Administration & Establishment

The Administration & Establishment Wing of the Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI) is responsible for overseeing human resources, administrative governance, organisational policies, employee welfare, internal controls and statutory compliance across the Authority.

It supports the effective functioning of IWAI by administering recruitment, establishment matters, staff benefits, discipline, grievance redressal, Right to Information (RTI) processes, delegation of powers and empanelment of partner institutions such as hospitals. The wing ensures that administrative systems align with Government of India guidelines, regulatory requirements and public service standards, enabling the Authority to execute its mandate for developing and regulating National Waterways.

Discipline, RTI & Grievance RedressalAdminister disciplinary matters, Right to Information (RTI) requests, public grievances and ensure transparent access to information in accordance with statutory obligations.
Compliance and Statutory ControlsEnsure compliance with Government of India administrative guidelines, service rules, vigilance norms and internal audit/controls.
Awareness & Prevention of Workplace HarassmentImplement initiatives related to women’s safety, Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) and foster a safe and inclusive work environment.
LegalHandles legal matters of IWAI including vetting of agreements, contracts, MoUs and policy documents, coordination of litigation and arbitration, provision of legal opinions, and ensuring compliance with applicable laws, rules and Government of India directives.
HindiImplements the Government of India’s Official Language Policy in accordance with the Official Languages Act, 1963, promoting progressive use of Hindi in official work. Oversees translation, documentation, website content, TOLIC coordination, Hindi workshops and periodic compliance reporting across IWAI.
Information Technology (IT)Information Technology (IT) Support & Systems Provides IT infrastructure, application support and digital enablement for IWAI offices and projects. Manages internal IT systems, networks, hardware, cybersecurity measures and user support, and facilitates implementation of e-Governance initiatives, portals and digital workflows in alignment with Government of India IT and data security guidelines.

Ensures transparency, statutory compliance and equitable representation in recruitment, promotion and service matters within IWAI, and facilitates audit, inspection and reporting by competent authorities.
Empanelled IWAI HospitalsIWAI maintains a network of empaneled hospitals where serving and retired employees and their dependent beneficiaries can access medical treatment at established rates.
Pension & Retirement BenefitsThe wing manages pension eligibility, processing, retiree benefits and associated administrative procedures in coordination with the Finance Wing and Government of India pension rules.
Medical Reimbursement & GuidelinesOversee policies for medical reimbursement, entitlement rules and guidelines for medical care, including facilities available to retired and retiring IWAI personnel.
RTI & Public GrievancesFacilitate transparency and accountability by processing RTI applications, handling public grievances, publishing information proactively and ensuring access to information under the RTI Act.
Delegation of Powers & Citizen CharterImplement delegation of administrative powers for efficient decision‑making, and publish a Citizen Charter to outline service standards, timelines and complaint mechanisms for stakeholders.
Workplace Safety & POSH ComplianceAdminister policies related to the prevention of sexual harassment at the workplace and ensure mechanisms for redressal in accordance with Government of India guidelines.
