Scheme for Incentives to Promote the Utilization of Inland Waterways Transport (IWT) Sector by Cargo owners and for starting Scheduled Services for Cargo Movement on NW-1, NW-2 via IBP Route and NW-16

NOC - Cross Structure is a statutory clearance issued by the Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI) for any construction activity proposed across, over, or within a National Waterway.

The Inland Vessels Act, 2021, establishes a unified regulatory framework for inland vessel navigation across India. and
The Jalyan & Navic Portal is a centralized national digital platform designed to maintain a unified registry of inland vessels and crew across India.

The Protocol on Inland Water Transit and Trade (PIWTT) exists between India and Bangladesh, allowing both countries to use each other's waterways to move cargo in accordance with their respective laws and regulations.

Least Available Depth (LAD) refers to the minimum depth of water available in a navigational channel at a particular stretch and time. It is one of the most critical parameters for safe and efficient inland water transport.

IWAI offers opportunity to students (undergraduate/postgraduate/ Research Scholar) and to undertake an internship at its Headquarters located in Noida, U.P. and in various Regional Offices iocated across pan India.
