Jal Marg Vikas Project (JMVP)
The Jal Marg Vikas Project (JMVP) is a flagship initiative being implemented by the Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI) for capacity augmentation and enhancing the navigability of National Waterway-1 (NW-1).
North-East Region
North East India has many large and small rivers providing facilities for water transport (especially in its plain parts and in flat river valley of the large rivers in hills). From the ancient period till proper road connectivity were constructed, river Brahmaputra and Barak were commonly used as mode of transportation of goods and passengers.
Traffic & Logistics
The Traffic & Logistics Wing of the Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI) plays a pivotal role in planning, promoting, regulating and facilitating cargo and passenger movement across National Waterways, covering the commercial, strategic, analytical, regulatory and operational dimensions of inland water transport (IWT).
Hydrography
The Hydrography Wing of the Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI) is responsible for conducting systematic hydrographic surveys and generating accurate river data to ensure safe, reliable and efficient navigation on National Waterways.
Mech. Marine
The Mechanical & Marine Wing of the Inland Waterways Authority of India is responsible for the provisioning, deployment, and lifecycle maintenance of marine vessels, dredgers, and support craft to support inland waterway operations.
Other Waterways
In addition to the existing designated National Waterways, the Government of India, guided by the National Waterways Act, 2016, has identified several Other National Waterways across multiple states to unlock the potential of inland waterways for cargo and passenger movement.
Finance
The Finance Wing of the Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI) is responsible for financial management, budgeting, accounting, financial analysis and reporting in relation to the Authority’s accounts, Central Sector schemes and other initiatives of the Union Government administered by IWAI.
Administration & Establishment
The Administration & Establishment Wing of the Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI) is responsible for overseeing human resources, administrative governance, organisational policies, employee welfare, internal controls and statutory compliance across the Authority.
